Terms of Service
Last updated: June 6, 2026
Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Finly. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Finly.
1. About Finly
Finly is operated by Finly Foundation, a nonprofit organization incorporated in North Carolina. Our platform provides free financial literacy education for kids and teens ages 8–17. Finly is free to use and will remain free. We do not charge for access, sell advertising, or monetize your personal data.
2. Use of the Platform
Finly is intended for educational use by students ages 8–17 and their parents, guardians, and teachers. You may use Finly to access lessons, track progress, and engage with educational content. You may not use Finly for any commercial purpose, to copy or redistribute our content, or in any way that violates applicable law.
Guest users (no account required) may browse lesson content freely. Account holders get access to progress tracking, streaks, and the Classes feature.
3. User Accounts
To create an account, you must provide an email address and choose a password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@learnfinly.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Upon deletion, your personal data and progress will be permanently removed.
4. Children Under 13: COPPA Notice
Finly is designed in part for children under the age of 13 (our Foundation Track serves ages 8–12). We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- Parental consent: Children under 13 may only create an account with verifiable parental consent. A parent or guardian must create the account on behalf of their child, or a child may use Finly as a guest without an account.
- What we collect from children: If a parent creates an account for a child under 13, we collect only the information necessary to provide the service: an email address (the parent's) and learning progress data (completed lessons, XP, streak counts). We do not collect names, phone numbers, photos, or location data from children.
- No advertising to children: We do not display advertising to any user, and we never use children's data for advertising purposes.
- Parental rights: Parents and guardians have the right to review the personal information we have collected about their child, request deletion of that information, and refuse further collection. To exercise these rights, email us at hello@learnfinly.com.
- No third-party sharing: We do not share personal information from children under 13 with any third parties except as required by law or to operate the platform (e.g., our authentication provider).
If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Finly in any way that is unlawful, harmful, or deceptive
- Attempt to access, tamper with, or disrupt any part of the platform
- Copy, reproduce, or redistribute our lesson content without permission
- Create fake accounts or misrepresent your identity
- Use automated tools to scrape, collect, or index content without our written consent
6. Intellectual Property
All lesson content, curriculum materials, design, branding, and software on Finly are owned by Finly Foundation and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may use our content for personal, non-commercial educational purposes only. You may not sell, license, or redistribute it.
Teachers using Finly in a classroom context may share lesson URLs and print lesson content for non-commercial classroom use without additional permission.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
Finly is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. The educational content on Finly is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial, legal, or professional advice.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Finly Foundation shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the platform. Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these terms or your use of Finly shall not exceed $0, as Finly is a free service.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Finly after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
